Hi I'm new here. I've used DVD shrink and IMG burn for awhile with no problems until 2 days ago. I've noticed that both the ripping and burning time has tripled. I'm not sure what happened. My PC is just over 3 years old and I recently installed a new Liteon burner. I haven't touched any settings but something is obviously wrong. Can someone tell me what I need to be looking at to try and fix this? Could it possibly be my processor? I've also noticed that when I try to run other applications like I.E. everything gets bogged down which never happened until 2 days ago. I really have no idea how to fix this. thanks in advance for anyones feedback.

If the PC is using IDE, check 'My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > IDE.. Controllers.
The Primary and Secondary, Properties > Advanced, should be some kind of DMA (not PIO).

I don't think that was the problem. While burning a disk I opened I.E. and my screen turned black for a split second and then it rebooted itself. My pc did this twice.
I'm running Win XP sp3
P4 3ghz
1.5gb ram
Like I stated earlier, I've had no problems until 5 days ago. I didn't touch any settings. Its as if the problem happened over night.
I've also noticed that while burning a disk with IMG burn, the write rate is no more than 2x but my write speed was set at 8x. Is the write rate normal?

You selected 8x to write at but it certainly didn't do 8x, hence why it took so long. You need to check DMA as per Attar's post..

Either check DMA or defrag the HDD.
Does the new burner have the latest firmware - use ImgBurn 'Tools' > 'Drive' > 'Check for firmware updates'

I changed the DMA thing and also downloaded the latest firmware for the burner. It worked! Everything is back to normal.
Attar, thank you so much for your time and expertise. I would've never figured this out on my own. Afterdawn rocks!
