I'm suddenly getting alot of bad backups using Shrink and Nero. I've never had this problem in the past. I just installed a new DVD drive, but the problem started before this. I also got new blank DVD's and still had one mess up this morning. I checked the settings on Shrink and I can't remember if it was set to "region free" or "Region 1". Please check to see what your's are set at. Mine is currently "Region Free" and I'm wondering if this is the problem or if it's computer related. Any help is appreciated.

The default is Region Free - but I doubt the region setting is relevant.

When you say a 'bad backup' - do you mean a bad burn - because that's not a DVD Shrink problem.

Yes....Bad burn. I was hoping it was bad discs, but I have backed up 8 movies today, and 2 have burned bad. The rest were fine. Don't know.

Every single disc i've ever done with DVD Shrink is region free, not a problem with region free here, can't say i've ever read of problems with such discs either

I'm using Phillips Single-Layer 16x DVD+R's. I have always used these and never had a problem with them.

If you had the original burner, I would have suggested setting the burn speed at 8x or 4x, getting some Verbatim brand disks, burning the project with ImgBurn, updating firmware - in that order.
