My friend next door just got a dell laptop running windows 7. I installed dvd shrink for her and we added Nero 8.
For some rrason every movie she makes comes out ONLY half done. We watched a movie and half way thru the disc was blank. This happened on 5 movies.
The media is fine, I use it all the time. I have never used shrink/Nero on a laptop, only on a PC. Anyone got any ideas? I am perplexed. thanks

Does DVD Shrink save the entire movie to a folder.
If so, burn the folder using ImgBurn.

I have no idea, but I checked my laptop and I have a super multi drive, I have windows 8/dvd shrink on vista.
It can't be nero, I can burn a perfect dvd from another burn just using nero and its perfect. I tried 3 different dvds and 3 different media's on my laptop last night and sure enough only half of the movie on 2 and nothing on the 3rd.
So it has to be shrink.
If dvd is saving it to a folder where would that be? thanks

When you click 'Backup' in DVD Shrink, one of the Target options is the HDD - you specify the path.

What are you using to rip the original dvd? I'm not sure Win 7 will support auto burning with nero, unless it's an older version. You have to open the ripped files with shrink, save to temp folder somewhere, then use nero to burn.

I did a test on my toshiba laptop and the friend's dell, NERO is fine. I burned a dvd that was already burned on both and it worked fine. so its dvdshrink..I need a new program thats as easy as shrink, but that will work on vista & win7

just to add you said "unless its an older version" I didn't think 7 or 6 will work on vista or win 7.

DVDFAB should do the trick it can burn as well, when installing let it install vso burn engine & you'll be away you can set nero to burn if you prefer,it makes no diff if fab or nero burns the end result will be fine, just be sure to go to settings before hand

DVD Shrink has problems with some newer discs (b/c it's no longer maintained). That's why I like to use the free version of DVDFab for ripping. Then use Shrink to convert these files to an ISO, then use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to the blank DVD. Works every time.
Three things should always be free:
1. People
2. Software
3. Beer
Always remember, Big Brother is watching you!

I have NO problems with DVDSHRINK on my desktop with XP. Never lost a movie yet, always perfect...updated or not it works great, but not with WIN7 & VISTA on my laptop. I want something thats as easy as shrink, I do not want to have to do 4 or 5 different things just for one dvd, I just will make them on my desktop.

download dvd flick it will do the job for you..shrink is ok but a bit out of date.save the movie to a particular folder of your choice then use nero to burn the dvd.
dvdfab if required to rip.
