I tried to use the DVD Shrink/Img Burn package for the first time after getting power calibration & other error messages when I'd use Shrink & Nero 6. I got this error:

Drive K:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.

All your drives should be formatted using the NTFS file system to remove this error condition not FAT32.

NEC DVD_RW ND-3520AW 3.07

Your drive appears to have the latest firmware installed, so no update required for help.

Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: MCC 03RG20)

Your drive have a max write speed for DVD-R media of 6X (I believe), set the write speed to 4x and NOT MAX.

Power Calibration Area Error

It's possible you have a bad drive, but first try.....
1)clean the drives lens.
2)try using different, good quality media.
3)as stated above, burn at 4x or 1/2 the rated speed of the media.

While this is happening use RW media until it's sorted at least that way no more coasters, also i take it they are not dual layer discs you are burning to, then you need to decrease the size of the file,4.6 is far too large i'm not sure how big you can go with over burning with nero however 4.6 seems a bit much, use shrink to strip away any extra crap,if you have more than one title use "cut start & end frames on each",for compression you could compress the extra titles more this will free up more space for the main movie, you could also decrease the STD compression from 4.35 to say 4.4,if you have more than one audio say 5.1 & AC3 remove one

I have some dual layer discs but I got error messages with those too. They were TDKs.

You May Want to Replace the Cable Connecting your Burner to Momma Board.
Your Drive Is About 4 Years Old and The Firmware may not Be Compatible with Your Media, You May Want to Try Cheaper Brand Such as Memorex 8x and Burn at 4x.

I Really Do Think You Will Have to Replace Your Burner.

Any suggestions as to a model that won't break the bank & is also a quality?
