You need to use DVDFab, DVD Shrink is OLD and cannot handle the new encryption.

As Cyp stated, Dvd Shrink can't handle the newer stuff.
Use either anyDVD or DvdFab to rip.

Are you burning with Nero?
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I was having the same problem with out of order dvd with DVD Shrink so I tested it on an old unencrypted dvd and it wouldn't work on that one either. If the dvd plays at all which half the time it doesn't the dvd is completely out of order. I have Windows 7 and can't help but think that has something to do with it, especially since I can actually watch these screwed up dvd's on my computer..... I started using dvdfab and it seems to be working, but that's what I thought about the other programs.

I have the same problem with mixed up chapters. The problem does not seem to be Shrink. I turned off burn with NERO and used image burn to go from harddisk to dvd+r. Works fine like that. The problem seems to be with Nero.

If the the movie is mixed up it is not completely decrypted. Shrink can not decrypt everything. No one with a few years under their belt even tries to decrypt with Shrink. Some work, some don't. Actually there are more DVDs with minimal encryption than there were a few yrs back. The producers have given up the ghost. Why waist money on new encryption since they don't stop anyone from making a copy. Follow the advice already posted. The only reason I put my own 2 cents in no one stated what the obvious problem was only the solution.

Decryption was actually done with anydvd. Even using older movies which have been backed-up before using the same setup I would get jumbled movies that would repeat a short clip. As I said disableing burn with NERO and using Imgburn seemed to fix the problem. Shrink was not used to decrypt.

Are you saying you are starting with unencrypted master and Shrink detects that it is encrypted and then unencrypts it which really encrypts it. Shrink will tell you if the video is not encrypted. Make sure you see that message. If not, that is your problem.
I bought Anydvd but AnyDVD didn't keep as current as Defab. I haven't used AnyDVD in many years. I don't even bother to get the upgrades any more. Just for grins, decrypt with DeFab even though the movie is not encrypted. Then run it through Shrink and look for the message that the movie is not encrypted. If you see that message your problem should be solved. If not, it is over my head.

That doesn't explain why it did the same thing when trying to copy an unencrypted dvd, so it is not the decryption process causing the problem....

I am only guessing, but I think Shrink is trying to decrypt even unencrypted videos. I don't know why. Maybe try uninstalling it and make sure everything is deleted then reinstall??? Your problem is beyond me. Before that, maybe boot into safe mode with networking and download and install malwarebytes and run a virus scan first.

I am having the same problem. All DVD's work fine when i back them up with XP but I can't do it with Vista or on my new laptop using Windows 7. Always use DVD Shrink with Any DVD and Nero.
I downloaded ImgBurn. How do I get the files into a format that I can use for ImgBurn and will the quality be the same?

Shrink will save as an ISO file that is what you are doing now. Nero uses an ISO file. You can look for a modified shrink that uses Imgburn instead of Nero it is in the AD downloads. There will be mention of it in the Shrink forum. Imgburn burns a cleaner copy than Nero.
That has nothing to do with the 'slicing up of a video. Shrink was not designed for the newer OSs but I have not heard of this problem so I doubt that it is just the newer OSs.

Follow the advice given,a burner can only effect the quality of the burn not the content. Shrink has not been updated in almost 10 years. Why would you think it could decrypt every thing?
Decrypt with Defab then open up the files in Shrink. DURING THE ANALYSIS CHECK THE STATUS! It tells you the encryption. IT OUGHT TO SAY not encrypted. If it does not then uninstall and delete the folder if it still exists then re-install. If shrink is still scrambling your videos put the results here. I think the solution will be beyond me but maybe someone will figure it out. However, I think the above should fix your problem. Something in Shrink got corrupted. Maybe the first video you had problems with had a 'bomb' in it buggering something in Shrink.
Remember! This forum has been stating NOT to use Shrink to decrypt videos for the last 8 yrs. Maybe we do not state this enough now. I don't read this forum much any more.
