I downloaded DVDShrink. I got as far as the Encoding window and the window shows up with a black screen and "0% Encoding", and then it just sits there and does nothing. Can't go back, can't try again, nothing. What does this child want? Did I miss a step and it's waiting for me to feed it? It was going smoothly I thought until the big freeze. And later when I look in the folders that were created for the DVD file, they are empty.

OOh, I can see how much of a novice I am. I thought ripping was just for audio CD's, and I have no idea what FixVts is. I'm starting to think that I should just go and buy the darned DVD's, and forget all about this challenge.

Try using Ripit4me, in the wizard mode it guides you through the whole process and is free.

dvd shrink is wonderful for 98 percent of movies. but who is the movie made by, ie. disney or lionsgate those are the only producers i found shrink wont work for if this is the case try dvd fab hd decryptor or dvd fab for short. i havn't found a program that will do lionsgate yet and ive been doing this for a couple of years. you can also try the reauthor tab after opening the disk, and click on movie only but then it will just play like a vcr tape. some producers put in a loop at the beginig of a movie.

love my furry weasles

All DVD's you're backing up should be ones you have purchased. Otherwise, it's piracy and discussion of such is a forum no-no.

Ignore everything that happen to you and start all over with shrink again, after you clean the original disc well done.
If it happen again.....then you need new update software !
