OK, I recently learned how to get my laptop to burn and rip dvds. I had a friend walk me through the process of downloadong both DVD decrypter and DVD Shrink. After that, I was able to burn a copy of the crow. So, wanting to try again to make sure I had the process right, I popped in the new Alice in Wonderland DVD. it got stuck on parsing IFOs. After some searching, my friend told me that Disney dvds are hard to decrypt and burn. Yet my copy of Sleeping Beauty released last year worked(didnt try to rip but everything looks much better then when I tried Alice). Whats also weird is that The bonus dvd didnt get stuck.

What's going on, and is there anything I could do besides download another decrypter? And if I have to download something else, what free decrypters will work? Quite honestly, I'm not as computer savvy as i would wish, and something easy to understand would be nice, but I'll take what I can get. help??

Thanks i'll give it a try. Also, my Sleeping Beauty dvd did not rip as i thought. It almost got done when something went wrong and it wouldnt rip. I ended up having to use my 2003 edition of Sleeping Beauty. That worked wonderfully.

If i download Passkey, should I get rid of the DVD decrypter i already have? I'm a novie at all this.

I Have Deleted Decryptor form My Computer. I Would Download the Free DVDFab Hd Decrypter and Imgburn.

Use DVDFab Hd Decrypter to Rip to Your Hard Drive then Use Dvd Shrink to Compress to DVD 5 and Imgburn to Burn to Disc. That Is Really All You Need to Backup a Dvd.
Just Remember Not to Burn Too Close to the Edge of Your Blank Media and To Burn at 1/2 The Rated Speed of your Media ((16x = 8x)(8x = 4x)), Use Good Quality Media (Verbatim or Tayio Yuden) You Can See the Guides that Have Been Posted By BBmayo, Alkohol and FasFrank That are In My Signature. Guys, I am using Anydvd 6.6.4.8 as background support, then starting Decrypter to rip the dvd. There was one error message at around 9%, I just click Ignore to move on, so far it is still ripping, but it's much slower than usual. Hopefully there are no more errors and the previous one I hope it's just a false alarm. I will post more once my progress gets further.

Planning to use Vob Blanker to cut out all the junk then Dvd Shrink to burn.

Wish me luck!

Shrink Doesn't Burn. Decrypter Does, But I Suggest You May Want to Try Useing DvdFab Hd Decrypter To Rip The Movie Only Then Use Shrink To Create an ISO File, And Burn With Imgburn (DVD Decrypter Without a Ripper)

Ok, Decrypter didn't do the job. It stopped at 24% with a huge error. So I restarted with Anydvd to rip the disc to hd and then use CloneDvd to filter out all the junk and burnt the main title only. It Worked!

I used the newest version of ANYDVD (6.6.4.8) along with CLONEDVD2 (2.9.2.2) and opted to grab the entire contents of the retail disc and burn it to a dual layer so as to have all the extras and not miss any of the graphics with all of the CGI work in the film. It went first time no problem.

Overall I'm very happy with the picture quality, however is anyone else having the problem with the sound after the conversion of Alice in Wonderland? I don't know if maybe there was a glitch while it was converting or what, but the sound is low quality.

I'm having a hard time with this as well. I've been burning DVDs since I could get my hands on a burner and I can't seem to get this one.
I have DVDFab 7 which would not rip the disc by itself. Downloaded Passkey..which reads it, and gets rid of all of the 'bad stuff' but when I start DVDFab, it sees the disc, asks me what region the disk is, and when I click "1" and then "ok" it scan for like 5 seconds and then resets itself. I've restarted the PC 3 times. I tried using DVD shrink straight from Passkey...and Shrink at least sees the disk, but then errors with "a problem with DVD navagation". I only have one disk drive on this PC so i rip the HDD then do my thing and replace the movie with a blank disk and burn....you think that's the problem? Any other free rippers I could try?

Thanks so much for the help.

I haven't had any issues with DVDFab except once. I ended up having to reinstall it. That solved the issue for me.

UPDATE:
All..I'm happy to report I figured out a work around. I had a thought that DVDFab Passkey's main goal was to get rid of ALL protections. I remember when I first started burning, most of my old disks could get burned just by using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter simply because the disks had no protection.
So I enabled Passkey, turned on DVD Decrypter, clicked "File" and put it into "File" mode, picked a folder on my desktop, and proceeded to copy the entire DVD to my HDD. I then opened the file in DVDFab..and BANG..it worked....
Popped open Shrink, and it converted the files...
Opened Shrink again and burned it to DVD....
I'm SUPER excited....
I hope this work around works for others! ;0)

Great to hear you figured something out! I'll make a note of this in case DVDFab starts acting up!

Alice in Wonderland is giving me lots of grief. I tried ripping it with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD and I get an error message stopping the rip. Then I tried DVD Fab HD Decrypter and I get another error message stopping the rip. Finally I tried Magic DVD Copier and that goes almost to the end but indicates that there is not enough room...I used a 4.7 GB disc and had the result compressed, however the rip stopped and indicated that 4.56 GB were required and I had only 4.32 GB. What is going on or am I the only one who can't get this copy completed?

Got it to work by rebooting and then using Magic DVD Copy. I don't know what caused the earlier problem.

Just use DVDfab passkey and dvd decryptor 3.5.4.0 in file mode (not DVDfab decryptor; the original DVD decryptor 3.5.4.0)...both apps are free.

Ok so, I've had some major issues with the new Alice in Wonderland. I am stumped, and have not had issues for some 1K movies now. I normally use RipItForMe and it is a gem :) But it will not open this movie for me. My back up option is DVDFAB and it will not open this disk, it will scan for hours and eventually give error while reading I will hit ignore all and it will never open. I've read here about DVDFab Passkey, and downloaded it. I have gotten it to open AIW but it does take a very long time, but then I didn't know what to do. I have DVD Decrypter open in file mode, but it didn't do anything. Maybe I am missing the point of DVDFAB Passkey. Someone please explain in "idiot" terms how I can get this movie backed up before my kid destroys our original and forces me to buy another :)

That's a head scratcher. Have you tried reinstalling anything. I was having isues with DVDFab and just ended up uninstalling, reinstalling and then restarting once. After that I've been ok.

I don't know, only cause I just did a different movie with DVDFAB and had no issues. I just retried and Passkey opened it (again after over 1 hr) then DVD Decrypter tried to do something with it only to error out "check condition" errors every 3 minutes. Condition is fine, its new and has only been watched once. But DVDFAB won't even open the dang movie regardless if it is in movie only or full movie. At this point I don't care about the extra stuff, my son loved this movie and I know from experience if I don't make an extra copy he will have it unplayable after a few days :)

I've used Magic DVD Copy and copied the disc successfully. You can get 5 free uses by going to the site, just google magic dvd copy. Good luck.
