So I bought AnyDvD to back up movies and what I'm seeing is that if I have 80gb free and back up 2 movies lets say 5gb each for a total of 10gb when i'm done backing them up and deleting them I will maybe 72gbs? Each time i back up a movie I lose 5-10GB? I run a Dis cleanup and defrag but doesn't change anything? I've looked in all the folders but still haven't found extra copies of movies?? Please help...

What software are you using besides AnyDVD and what is your complete process for doing a backup?

I'm Going to Hazzard a Guess and say It Could Be Temp Files. Try Running Ccleaner With Everything Checked Except Wipe Free Space. That Should Clear Out Any Unwanted Files. It could also be A restore Point.

Apparently, ANYDVD now includes a ripper/image file creator. Personally I've never used it. Reading this thread I thought I'd better check.

Were the ISO images possibly transposed to the Recycle Bin? Next time, hold down the Shift key to permanently delete a file.

I use DVDShrink to shrink the DVD decrypter to burn the DVD back up file. I have used in the pass Ripit4me also which uses DVD decrypter to burn or at least I use that to burn my disc. Going to try the Ccleaner and see what happens. Will let you guys know.
Thanks, Dan

If ripit4me uses fixvts that would be the problem.

What I would do is rip one just after midnight or change your computer clock so it is the beginning of the day. Then search for all files made on that day. I am sure you will find out where your space is going.

Well I made a big discovery... Perhaps for myself, but I think there is going to be quite a lot of sighs of relief...

I am still running WinXP and I have no intention oif going anywhere else wih windows. I have been using a computer since 1995 and I have had more headaches o solve than I have ever read about on the internet... LOL

I have been using DVD Shrink for ages and as we all know, there will not be any further development of it, and neither is there any need.

DVD Shrink only SHRINKS the movie file. It does not decrypt. It is necessary to decrypt using a decryption program and there are now even fewer to chose from. I am particularly talking about .. AND NOT PAYING THROUGH THE NOSE for the privilege. I have always been one for seeking out free (no cost) software as I am just not made of money like everyone else seems o be.

Due to the savage kick back by the industry to protect their fortunes, inscription has become gross. Scrambling is what I have found to be the latest. Very recent DVDs do not decrypt unless you have the latest. The mob that has the latest is ANYDVD. (Bless the little Roos) and so I finally coughed up and paid for the latest ANYDVD. I get 2 years of updates and no more hassles. So I thought.
Suddenly DVDshrink stops working. I read about it on the internet So many are pulling out their hair about it. Well today I finally solved it. I had reinstalled WinXP and forgot my usual setup actions over and beyond the call of duty. You have to develop your own list of favourite ones.

So many of you are using WinXP and are getting the MS updates like me. Others are into Vista and now Windows 7. Guess what? The blighters are dropping out bits of technology gradually and before I am dead you will all be either toeing the line with Microsoft and putting up with the computers and software they expect you to be using and paying for - or you will be getting a damn sight smarter and hanging onto WHAT WORKS TODAY.

I was really pissed about DVD Shrink not working. I wouldn't even start up. I reinstalled, cleaned out the registry reinstalled, ran checkdisk, rebooted reinstalled windows again and the bloomin' thing just laughed at me. But I left it installed and thought I would solve it sooner or later. And I did.

They don't tell you ANYWHERE... that DVDShink requires files in vbrun60sp5.exe to work.

Have fun now, and forget all the crap suggestions and misleading steps you have been told.

Remember.. It's simple. ANYDVD running in the background, DVD Shrink v 3.2 and because windows doesn't have it included now, install the vbrun60sp5.exe on all systems.

Cheers

@diarbe what in the world does that have to do with this thread? I have seen that same exact post in at least one other thread. Just because you think you made some great discovery, which may or may not be true, does not mean it has to be put in multiple threads.

If I can learn here so can you.
Search first, then ask. Words to live by.
