so, I have a burned dvd that won'y play on my toshiba vcr/dvd combo OR my sony dvpsr200p, which play all of my other dvds burned with shrink in the same way. the dvds play perfectly on my laptop, I decrypt with dvdfab8, then dvd shrink 3.2 and nero to burn a dvd and it won't play. meanwhile, i have about 100 other dvds that play perfectly...amazingly confusing.. any advice????

What do you need to use DVD shrink for if you are using DVDFab. You don't need it.If the DVD wasn't finalized then it won't play on your DVD player.

Well it's because the decrypter with DVDFab is free. The other features of DVDFab require you to buy the full version of the program.

Here's my two cents... Buy the full version of DVDFab. I use it and I have zero problems making backups of any of my DVDs or Blu Ray discs. If you back up a lot of movies, then it's well worth buying the full version. Then you can just copy your movie onto a blank disc, or make a digital backup.

Now, the reason I'm guessing DVDShrink isn't working is because there are some newer movies where the encryption is newer than what DVDShrink is designed to defeat. I had a problem before where it copied the movie, but there was no sound. Yeah I know it's nice to have a free program, but the program is old and outdated.

One other solution I would suggest is use ImgBurn to create an .iso file and then burn that .iso to a disc using ImgBurn. This will probably require you to buy a DVD9 with more storage space since ImgBurn doesn't compress the info on the disc like DVDShrink does, but it'll probably work if you don't want to buy the full version of DVDFab.

Yes I know what you mean.I have the full version and never have a problem. If I wasn't so old I'd buy the lifetime version.

fab can't fine tune cutting front & end frames

your issue could be anything however neglect of what make of dvd's are used & type means it's a waste of peoples time to guess, however in the end you get what you pay for is where believe your issue is & until you get better quality discs instead of being a tight ass then your on your own

as usual i'm harsh but fair

Well, you might be retarded also...why you assume I'm using cheap dvds/being cheap is puzzling because I didn't mention what type of discs I used.

The problem is that it's a hit or miss deal. With the exact same process of burning, some play, and others don't. I was just hoping people had similar issues that could help...they burn/decrypt properly, play on my computer, but will not play on my player.

I need a new dvd player.

I thought it was obvious if your dvd player can play 100 ok & others it can't that ain't no coincidence a player will play them or it won't,100 are far too many that can be played for it not to be the dye used in the dvd's that are failing to play which equates to poor quality disc, why can the comp play them you ask, frack'd if i know however it's the reason i don't use standalone dvd players as a comp dvd drive very seldom has issues & if it does it'll be either really shite media or a buggard drive,so as you see My Dear Watson it's all elementary

edit:scrap the new dvd player idea if at all possible & use the comp & connect it to the tv instead it'll make a much better entertainment system, just use your current stand alones for recording tv if it's needed
