Hi :)
I've been looking for a way to do batch encoding with dvdshrink, I tried using Multishrink, but nothing happens once I open it and click "Run" :(
I followed the instructions on the official site and I contacted them, they responded: "I'm afraid DVD Shrink's development and support ended a few years back." and suggested that I checked here to find a solution for this.
I can see that other people have the same problem with Multishrink: http://dvdadvdr.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67028 (español).
I also tried starting one of the instances of dvdshrink and then clicking "Run" on Multishrink, but once it finishes the only thing that Multishrink does is close the window that indicates the encoding was successfull, but it doesn't start one of the new projects...
I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this or tell me if there's another way to do a batch with Dvdshrink, I downloaded batchshrink (from videohelp, the official site is down) but I think you need some extra files not included, it prompts you to look for them.
THANK YOU

Really? It's my tool and I don't recall being contacted by anyone concerning MultiShrink for several years.

So you have set it up as explained in the readme and know that it takes about 60 seconds before the next instance is started?

Hi man, yes I went to dvdshrink.info/chetwood/ and then I search for a way to contact someone: dvdshrink.info/contact.php, a guy named Daniel or Dennis, sorry, I don't recall, answered me.
Yes, I did everything you indicate on the instructions, I waited way more than sixty seconds, I tried again the next day, but nothing happens.
I also tried starting dvdshrink and Multshrink as "administrator", I use a computer that has Windows 7.
UPDATE: I'm not sure but I think the problem is that Multishrink might not work with this version of windows, as I mentioned in my previous message apparently I'm not the only one who seems to be having this problem more or less recently. I can see on Video Help and places like that, that when you released Multishrink people seemed to have no problem running it. So I right clicked on it and selected "solve problems of compatibility" (I'm translating, this Windows is in español) and it suggests that I run Multishrink in Windows XP mode, service pack 2 I think, but that doesn't help, nothing changes, and then Windows indicates that the application is not compatible.
Thank you for replying.

Yeah, I'm hosted on this guy's site but other than that he's not involved. That said, I'm also on Win 7 and MultiShrink works just fine for me, even without changing compatibility settings. Maybe you have a resident scanner or something running in the background that is interfering?

"Resident scanner" has to do with Avast anti-virus, right? that's the results I got when I googled it. This computer has Microsoft Security Essentials installed.
I wonder what could be causing this problem... I'm sorry I don't know much about computers so I don't know if something is interfering with Multishrink, but if it helps I haven't installed any weird programs or anything like that :D just VLC, Exact Audio Copy, utorrent and standard stuff like that.

Well, I even do have an antivirus scanner installed and it's not interfering with MultiShrink either so I'm kinda stumped.

I tried disabling the anti-virus and installing multishrink again and to a different location but that didn't help :(
I'm going to re-install dvdshrink, maybe that'll help.
What puzzles me is that Multishrink does everything else it's supossed to, except start the next project hehe, for instance if I open Dvdshrink, add an ISO file or a dvd folder, and then try to open Multishrink before clicking "back up" a little window pops up: "please prepare backup windows first! terminating script", and as I mentioned before it closes the window you get when the project has finished, it creates a log too:

It's weirding me out too. I have no idea what else could be interfering with it.

I re-installed Dvdshrink but it didn't help. Multishrink still closes the little window when dvdshrink finishes and in the log it shows "START" after that, as in the one I posted above.
Could some of the settings of Dvdshrink prevent Multishrink from working properly?. I didn't modify any "advanced" settings, I just selected "deep analysis", disabled the option to burn with Nero, selected ISO and stuff like that.

No, cause all it does is waiting for the "Backup complete" window. So as long as you don't use German and English instances of DVD Shrink together, it should work.

Since I never got this application to work, does anybody know of an alternative to multishrink by any chance?
Thanks

I started using Dvdrebuilder which allows you to do batch encoding and produces better results than Dvdshrink, I use HCenc, takes a little longer (from less than 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours for a full DVD) but it's well worth it.
It's rather funny that I ended up trying DVD-RB because of the batch encoding capability :D I had been wanting to try it for some time now, but I never got around to it, until a few days ago.
It's very easy to use. I highly recommend it.
