Hello, I am posting this for a friend. She has been using dvd shrink and dvd decrypter for ages on her xp computer. She recently got a new computer and upgraded to vista. Now dvd shrink does not seem to recognise that dvd decrypter is installed. There is no option to burn with dvd decrypter in the target drop down box.

Yes, the burn with nero box is unticked in preferences. We have checked all her setting against my setting of both programs on my computer and they are the same, only mine works and hers doesn't.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Imgburn is an updated version of dvd decrypter without the rudimentary ripper.

If she wants to backup her movies, use this process:

Rip with DvdFab Decrypter (free),

Process with fixvts/vobblanker (free),

Compress with dvd shrink/dvd rebuilder (free),

Burn with imgburn (free)

Hey RTM.. don't you get bored with that copy/paste stock answer to these lazy people? .. 2 seconds with the search button brings up your same answer over 200 times.. is that how you find it so quick or do you have a text file saved like I had for xbox e16 repairs?

This one I didn't cut and paste. I actually typed it out from my mobile. Then again, bonehead's posting has been cut and pasted thousands of times!!

Thanks for the advice. But I have already found that solution by doing a search... and yes we know there are other programs out there that will rip and burn her dvd's. if she has to use something else then she will if this problem can not be fixed. but in the mean time why should she install 4 programs to do the job that for so long 2 programs did? It still works for me so why not her. She really wants to just do it the way she always has.

We use 4 different programs to try and get the best quality of a copy we can.

Dvd shrink/dvd decrypter both have a rudimentary ripper that cannot handle newer encryptions, as both programs have not been updated in over 5yrs, where as dvdfab (payware/freeware) and anydvd (trial/payware) are being updated constantly to handle the latest encryptions.

Also, have a look at this link here:

Thanks again for the info. But as stated already, my friend is very happy with the way shrink/decrypter worked together on their own. She does not have the time to learn new programs and the quality she got is good enough for her. Yes there are better ways of doing it, yes there are more up to date programs that will give better quality. Yes shrink/decrypter may not be up to date with new encryption codes (all her dvd's she copies are old anyway)

We just want to know how to fix this given problem with these 2 programs.

Thanks
