After installing Nero9, DVDShrink kept failing with a "not enough memory to process this command" error. I tried removing and reinstalling it and still got the same error. I then went to another machine that also has DVDShrink and Nero9 (just the core files, Express and Burning ROM) installed and compared the filter load order on both machines using the tools/Filter Driver Load Order..." included in ImgBurn. The only difference was an UpperClassFilter of c:\windows\system32\drivers\Px(something or other, didn't write down the file name)on the machine that was failing. I removed the filter and all of a sudden, DVDShrink started working again! I can only assume that this filter was installed by Nero and I don't know if removing it broke Nero or not; I haven't tried to run Nero since I fixed the problem. If I have to go back to Nero7 I'll do so since I didn't notice any advantage to using Nero9; in fact, I don't care for it at all and would dump it entirely if I could find something to create copies of my Audio CDs and burn MP3 compilations to CDs. If anyone knows of anything, preferably free, that will take Nero's place, I'd like to know about it.

If I'm not mistaken, you should also be able to do this with windows media player.
A burning app like Nero when installed will create two parameters which define working characteristics for your burner.....
UpperClassFilter and a LowerClassFilter
When the app is uninstalled these parameters can become corrupted and cause a disconnect with the operating system, when I uninstalled Nero 9, my DVD burner just disappeared. It simply wasn't listed in My Computer, I had to delete both filters and reboot, then I had to uninstall the IDE channel the burner was connected to and reboot before it appeared again.
