If you're ripping to HDD and not ripping/compressing/copying to DVD-5 size, chances are high no-compression will be needed..So choose the DVD-9 size file backup..The resulting VIDEO_TS folder can be played with VLC, Media Player Classic, etc..

Edit: forgot to mention, if after choosing DVD-9 size it still needs some compression, then backup main movie only..

If the source disc file is smaller than 4.3GB, then you don't have to compress, if it's any bigger and you're using DVD-9 (Dual Layer disc) then you also don't need to compress either...but...if you stuck a DVD-5 in (4.7GB disc; actual space to burn is 4.35 for Shrink and 4.30 for DVD-RB), then yes you'd definitely need to shrink/compress the file to fit.

Always compare file sizes before or after you finished decrypting and before you burn.
