I did indeed try to search for a previous posting for my question, but I did not see a solution. I'll try to keep it brief.
I installed DVDShrink on my laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium), along with Nero 6. I burned five different DVDs easily. On my sixth, (and on every other attempt), I got a message saying that the burn failed. Here are a couple of observations that I hope will guide an answer:
- Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled Shrink;
- I had been using Dynex DVD-R disks, and bought Memorex DVD+R on sale... mistake?
- I did receive an initial message from Nero saying it wasn't compatible with Vista; however, I gave it a shot and it worked fine for the first five burning sessions.
Hope this is enough detail to get an answer. As you might guess, I'm very new to this, so maybe someone will recall their disappointment when a new toy doesn't work and help me out. I appreciate any help you all might offer.
Thanks!
Nero6 seems to have a lot of issues with fista. After a HP system update last year my neighbour had the same sort of problems..
no worries.. hookey nero8 went on a treat and fixed the problem... or use imgburn.. that has no fista problems.. and is free unlike nero.
Thanks for the quick response, varnull. I don't understand one part of your reply, though: "hookey nero8 went on a treat and fixed the problem". Could you clarify, please?
Thanks!

In short, you'll have less issues with Imgburn; which was recently updated.
Thank you for the info! I have also noticed that when I purchased dvd-r (the problem began when I switched to dvd+r), I am back to being able to burn again.
Any guess as to why that would be the case? If the laptop is a new one, wouldn't it be equally able to burn +R and -R?
Do you feel imgburn provides more opportunities to avoid error messages than dvdshrink?
Hugh, keep in mind that while the burner should do just fine with either -R or +R: the difference may with the blank media quality itself. Some burners don't like inferior blank media.
