im new to all these programs,ive been using avi files and just copying them straight out with a dix player or windows dvd maker which aren`t the best then i came back to good aul afterdawn where i spent most of my time in the dvb discussion so im new to this section so be kind lol,thanks...i used img to burn dvds which were perfect but then i needed to copy a dvd from the disc straight up and it needed to be decrypted so i got hold of dvd shrink and i backed the dvd files up onto the hard drive and then made an iso file with img burn but can you back it straight up as an iso file with dvd srink???thats my first question ,,then i tried to play them on the laptop with wmp but didn`t work so again from here i downloaded vlc media player which plays them perfect again is this the only player that plays them and would i be able to transfer the file to an external multimedia player and would it play??thats q2...next i ran into what seems to be a common problem i couldn`t back up the pursuit of happyness and what came up was invalid structure message so i done a bit of searching but didn`t find any clear answer so as im new i tried dvd decrypter with no joy and fixvtsi which i wasn`t sure what to do and i tried any dvd which at first i thought it decrypted files onto the pc but then realised it just ran in the background and decrypted it while it was running etc...so last but not least i used dvd fab which worked perfect but its only a trial so when thats up is there any other options i can go for and what are these errors and how come dvd decrypter couldn`t load the disc and just looking for advice and help and ill try look up all the guides i can so im not asking for a complete dummies guide just some guidance and info,,thank you

thanks a million took a good bit on board ,most of the files i backed up with dvd shrink ended up being iso files and could be played or burned straight away but i think ive enough programs to get around the ones that don`t work through shrink,,and ive still not got a hard drive multimedia player so ill choose carefully ..thanks mate

The WDTV does NOT ignore IFO file as long as all of them are in a VIDEO_TS folder. The current beta for the WDTV LIVE (PLUS) also supports DVD menus.

well when i back up any dvd they automatically go into video_ts and audio_ts files which in all is an iso folder and would a lot of hardrive multimedia players play them in that format or would i have to convert them ?....i do have dvd fab and as i said most of the options are trials but the hd version is free well ive downloaded dvd fab 8 and already had 7 but its the same just a newer version so the last option is hd encrypter , will that do the same as the dvd to dvd option ?

@Chetwood
I find that the .VOB files in a VIDEO_TS folder will be listed - but none will play.
If the file extension is changed to .mpg - it will play.
Files with .IFO extensions are not listed -therefor not selectable.
I saw reports that .iso files would play - I haven't found that to be the case.
The files I can play are the files listed in the user manual - not to suggest that some firmware upgrade has made it possible, but since the device was not licenced for DVD format file playback I would assume that it is not an official upgrade.
I have one of the 'live' devices in the box, but have only checked out that it functions electrically - I will follow up on the report that it supports standard DVD format files.

ive looked up a lot of media players and when searching for ones that play certain formats some say they play vob,iso,divx,xvid,ifo,etc. some have all or some so if they have all should i be ok to play most files on them , i can play files backed up with dvd shrink onvlc player but to put them on the dvd i have to make an iso image fiole with img burn then write to disc is this the normal way of doing things ??and which option do i use to write a iso file to a disc ,,write image file to disc or write file/.folders to disc ??

If you have an ISO, it's 'Write image file to disc'.
If you have a Video_TS folder it's 'Write files/folders to disc'.
