An interesting sitauation. I made a backup of the classic 12OCLOCK HIGH. I went through the hoops, Everything appeared Normal - even with the music at the end.
When I plug it into the computer or a stand alone DVD player, it indicates that it's loading but then up pops WRONG DISK
Did you Finalize the disk when you made the backup? If you did not, then it will only play on the computer on which it was made.
Did you back it up on a +R or -R disk? Which format is your DVD player able to read? Use the format that your player can read.
If your player can handle +R format, did you booktype the disk to ROM when finalizing? Setting the booktype to ROM will improve chances for readability across different players.
Did you use a good quality blank disk? What speed did you burn at? NTSC or PAL?
Answers to these issues will get better responses here.
WEll, I've made almost 125 backups. ALL done automatically. Use of DVDShrink that automatically switches over to ImgBurn - which - as a rule - is flawless!
Finalizing is done automaticaaly.
If you did not, then it will only play on the computer on which it was made.
If that's the case - it still did not playback on the computer that made it!
As a rule I use +R disks. ALL of my stand alones will play them.
Here in CANADA, we all use NTSC. As far as BOOKTYPE - again, whatever I've been using - none of the other seetings have been changed,
new question: IF MY OVERALL SYSTEM IS RUNNING REALLY SLUGGISH - WILL THAT HAVE ANY BEARING?
I'VE JUST DUMPED OUT (oops) about 35 - 40 rarely used apps. So that only freed up a buch of HD
It seemed to be burning a little squirley. By that, I mean that the Buffer would almost completely run out then catch up. It should have only taken about 12 - 13 minutes to burn but during that "time" the "time left" would show UNKNOWN.
I've tried this on three different stand alones -- NO GOOD
I think I might try to pull up Shrink again and try to just DRAG over the
MAIN MOVIE
ALL this being said, I had a whole lot of trouble last week trying to backup SOUTH PACIFIC. The entire burn went as planned (I thought) When I went to check out the burn, it completely STOPPED about 75% of the way through it. Something strange about the backup - all of the VOB files were separated Ok but right at the point where my playback quit, those VOB's played back in a foreign language.
Ialk about pullin' out my hair. !!!
My next planned backup is THE DARK KNIGHT. Potential problem on the horizon. All the video files are not VOB - they are VTS files (LONG MOVIE) I wouldn't doubt that it'll take +R-9
open task manager look at processes-see if something is using the cpu that is tasking your system. i've found a few that i didn't know were using power and making the 3rd fan run at high speed. and when the fan kicked in at high speed i noticed a change in the buffer of shrink.
I am sure that the Dark Knight will be a problem for Shrink and ImgBurn alone. There were extensive threads on AfterDawn when the movie first came out.
Both are good programs but are getting rather old, but still useful in addition to other programs such as DVD Fab that still receive frequent updates. Check out some of the other tools available.
Oh so TRUE. No matter what I did, SHRINK just locked up at about the 12% mark so I did MOVIE ONLY with SMITH, It got it onto the HD but when played back it went all over the place.
I've even just DRAGGED all the icons from the disk onto the HD . Sometimes they work - sometimes they don't
Even at that, DARK KNIGHT is a really long flick besides
Well, as luck might have it, DARK KNIGHT was ISO'd with MOVIE ONLY. I did it with DVDFab6. It came out 100%
NOw then The Sound of Music was a real sqeeker! Did it on SHRINK and it was really FULL!!!!! According to the numbers showing it was going to be too large unless I put it onto a DL. I took my chances - burned it on a +R. Nevertheless, playback worked out fine.
