"Cannot play disc. Check TV system" error

I have several hundred discs that I have made with Nero, not a problem watching any of them on my Magnavox DVR. Got a new Samsung Blueray player (5500C I believe) and now I occasionally put in a disc and get the error message in the subject of this post. I have done some looking on-line and have seen refernces to 1) a Nero problem and 2) the player thinks the disk is in PAL format (hence the "Check TV System" part of the error message) due to a laser problem. Anyone heard of this issue? I'd appreciate any feedback!
