Hello all, great forum. After looking through the site for quite a while, I gave up on finding my answer in an existing post.

I am new to this DVD ripping stuff, and I need some help. I am in the military and I travel constantly. I am trying to burn my TV episode DVD's onto my portable hard drive so I can take them with me when I travel.

Is there any way that I can rip the DVD then change it to an AVI file on my hard drive and still have the functional disc menu? I'm tring to make it where I can access the entire disc with one file. All I've been able to do so far is to convert all the episodes in one file or each episode individually. I hope my question makes sense.

Thanks in advance!!

Why not leave it in DVD format - just run the ripped movie through DVD Shrink.
At approximately 4 GB, you have the movie and the menu.

Agreed.

If you insist converting, you may try mpeg video wizard dvd, i'm using it to convert other formats to avi, well, without the menu.

So if i do the DVD shrink that will still be in a format recognized by media player/quicktime, etc? That could work, i suppose. I will look into that. Thanks!
