Here's my problem, Ive downloaded a few dvd's and I believe they are from Netherlands or somewhere besides the U.S. they are in iso format and when I burn them i cannot play them on my sony blu ray player, it says "Cannot operate this disc". Is there any wy around this> I see there are no region free hacks for the BDP-BX1. Also, why is it region locked if it is an iso? how do i check what region an iso is? When I open the iso with dvd decrypter, it says "Region 12345678" Can I make my discs region free? I should also add that my dvd burner does not have a region set, but it plays everything anyway. Is that my problem?

Strange, I remastered the image with dvd shrink, made sure region free was checked, but yet I still get the same message on my dvd player.I am using dvd-r. Im gonna try a + now and see if thats the prob.. standby , and thanks for your replies. I believe it is a PAL/NTSC issue, is there anything i can do about that? I thought "Region Free" meant it would play on anything, like xbox 360 games? Am I wrong?

That would be for nothing, like I said, the ISO IS REGION FREE.
Region coding has to do with hardware settings. The PAL/NTSC is the way the video is encoded,is different.
If that's the issue, you need to convert to NTSC. I would think the newer players would be able to handle both...
There are easy ways to "convert" to NTSC,using some program to re-encode the video(like DVD Flick for example), or "true PAL/NTSC conversions" , that's a bit more elaborated.
If you choose "All Files" from the drop down menu, DVD Flick will load the VOBs, but nor sure if it reads them correctly(a 1GB clip shows as 1m11s long...), so better use Vob2Mpg ( http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VOB2MPG ) to convert the VOB files to an mpeg that DVD Flick will open.
