Videopad is making "lines" in the video...

I have been using Videopad (free vers) to edit (trim) about a dozen Divx videos that I have. All went well for about 6 or 8 of them, then a problem. It has started to leave horizontal lines in the saved file, making it basically unsuitable for viewing.

I uninstalled/reinstalled, same issue is occurring. I have tried using Nero & Windows MM, but the out of sync audio/video issues are horrible. Anyone have any recommendations as to what to do at this point?
