Apps for a blackberry curve 8520?

About a month ago got my wife a blackberry curve 8520 and have been looking for apps for it. Is there a way to get free apps for it? I have searched google. I know for my Iphone I had to jailbreak it, would I have to do something like that to the Blackberry?

Blackberry phones don't need to be jail broken since they are open to development and any one that wants to develop for them can request the blackberry development tool from Rim(aka the maker).

There are plenty of apps you can use for free. Some of them might not be the official version, i.e. the beta version or the sample version, which has adds, but they are good enough to use.
Some useful apps I use are; Kakao, PingChat, Facebook, Twitter, ESPN sports center.
