I am new to this PsP custom firmware lark, I am currently running 5.50 Gen B full on a PsP 1000, which is the best upgrade from here? There are that many different custom firmwares kicking about now with a lot of different good/bad reports. Cheers in advance for any advice/help.

There are only really only 2 custom firmware versions

5.00m33-6 the last stable version from Dark Alex
5.50 Gen this is currently being upgraded.
B2 - your version
C - could brick PSP quickly withdrawn IGNORE
D - plays latest .iso without patching
D2 - enhancements to above
D3 - to play latest games due on 15-12-09

Update to D then add the D2 patch, then wait till 15-12 for D3 version!

Thanks, managed to upgrade to 5.50 D2 following good advice. (PsP still will not play Avatar and it refuses to be patched!!)

Avatar is one of the new batch of games that need 6.1 Fware, wait till 15/12 then upgrade to genD3 - this should solve the issue
