Best firmware for psp 1000?

Ok, so i have the original psp 1000 using firmware 3.40 OE-A. My question is, is it worth upgrading to any other custom firmware or not. I haven't really kept up with all the firmware updates.

Also, how do you stop custom themes from going corrupt (losing the background and such), and losing the date and time.


And finally im thinking of changing my memory stick. would a 4GB memory stick pro duo Mark 2 work?

OE firmwares are oooooooooooold!!!. the latest firmware for PSP 1000 and 2000 is 5.50 GEN-B.
Dont know why your themes are curropt and yes a 4GB Memory card will do just fine.

I would go to 5.00 M33-6, this is the most stable firmware, Gen B does have several issues and I have now downgraded back to 5.00.

Only issues are, you cannot go on to the PSN with 5.00 and 2 Jap games do not run, everything else works well

From 3.40 OE-A can i just install 5.00 M33-6 or do i have to do something else first?
