Hey, i got a Blue PSP 2001 w/ OFW 6.30 from EBGames. Now i am curious if i am able to downgrade, and if so, how to downgrade to a CFW, i dont really care which CFW.
I dont have a pandora battery, but can possibly get one if needed. Any help is appreciated.
I have read http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/781188 , and dont fully understand it. I believe i need OFW 5.03 or lower for that to work.

Good that you actually read before asking (a lot people don't on here). You are right, this only works when you are on OFW 5.03 or below.
Take a look here and check the date code:

There are some blue PSPs that are hackable, some aren't. If yours is hackable, you definitely need a Pandora battery. If it is not hackable all you can do is use HBL to load some homebrew applications.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

My psp doesn't have a date code. Also the program people use to check their motherboards doesn't seem to work on my psp. Thanks for the help.

The madden edition is pandora friendly, that is if it is all original and nobody has replaced the motherboard.

Good to know. Deploying to Afghanastan in about a month or so. Would go crazy for the 6 months that we will be there without some sort of entertainment. Going to pay someone $10 on Friday to mod it for me. Gonna get him to make me Pandora battery while he is at it, incase I brick it while in the desert. Thanks for all the help and the speedy responses.

Actually not all. I read about people who had a non-modable Madden edition.

yeah i believe its like i said i had one that the motherboard had been swapped out, and it of course was not but i have modded about 5 of them so i think the chance of getting a modable one is pretty good

Now i'm afraid to turn it off.... dont know if it will go away. so i'm gonna try to make my own pandora battery and Magik memory card.... just need a little help with that. I have already cut the pin on the battery and taped it together. dont know what else to do for the battery.

well if you had upgraded to gen D2 of 5.50 then you could make a softmod battery pandora. I will say though that i have only heard of one out of over a hundred or so blue psps that could not be modded. I used to do it on Ft Gordon for all the people buying them from gamestop. bet you could go there now and buy a psp and almost can say it is 100% modded. depending on the MB
Mods are like games.....GO BIG OR GO HOME!!

got my psp updated to 5.50 gen-d3. i made a hardmod battery already, i was just curious if i have to flash the chip with anything for it to actually be a pandora battery, or is it just as simple as cutting the right pin? It's a slim battery FYI. thanks for all the help everyone has given!

You don't need a pandora battery anymore. Your PSP could be modified and it won't go away when you switch it off, that only happens with PSPs with the newer motherboard type that don't support permantent modifying (and no 5.50 GEN-D3). Also I wouldn't use a genuine Sony battery to make a Pandora one, as a Pandora battery it can't be used anymore to power your PSP. Yes, it can be turned back into a normal one, but there are chances of destroying it in the process.
Go to www.dealextreme.com and buy a Pandora battery if you want to have one for the case you might ever need it to repair a brick or anything, the cheapest are around 6 US$, I would put in that extra Dollar though to buy the white hybrid one, that can be used as a normal battery too.

my friend recently purchased the PSP Slim FFVII 10th Anniversary model,
i think it's a japanese only one. it has OFW 6.20, the barcode says PSP-2000.
the serial starts with "HJ" which i read somewhere can be modded?
i have a MMS and a Pandora battery, would i be able use this method or
do i have to use a different method?
