Bought my son A psp 2001 used for Christmas. Worked perfect. I don't know anything about them now I wish I did. Long day~he was downloading or upgrading from internet did not realize the cover came off the battery and it fell out. Now it's not working. Several people him included spent 5 hours reading on the net last night. The one thing that matched what happened was it is bricked. Can some one try to confirm this is what might have happened. Really feel bad!

Yes, it is definitely bricked. The upgrade wasn't fully done. Please check the code on the sticker under the battery, in the field called DATE CODE. If it is 8b or below, you are able to fix it. You need a Pandora Battery and a Magic Memory Stick. To get the Pandora Battery, I would suggest www.dealextreme.com, but the delivery may take some time (around a month). If you already have a memory stick you can find some tutorials on how to make it a Magic Memory Stick.
If the date code is above 8b you need a new mainboard.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

This only concerns PSP 2000, all PSP 1000 are hackable. And yes, with higher than 8b I mean 8c, 8d and so on.
