Button trouble after ChickHEN exploit on slim

OK, so I followed the guide for hacking the PSP without a Pandora battery. I'm on a PSP slip 2001 with a fully hackable motherboard. The problems I am having is after running the ChickHEN exploit I then go to load Hellcat's Recovery Flasher. It loads up but then the PSP buttons seem to stop working. The same thing happen if I try to run KeyCleaner instead. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

I should point out that all the buttons seem to work properly before doing the exploit and trying to run recovery flasher. Also, I have taken the faceplate off and cleaned the button contacts as well. I haven't a clue what else I could do. I've searched and found a couple of posts elsewhere with the exact same problem but i can't seem to find a solution.
