THE INFO: I have a PSP-1001. I don't know what motherboard is in it I just know it has IC1003 printed on it. I don't currently have a battery, it crapped out:( I also have 2 memory sticks. I have sony's 6.10 firmware installed.

THE PROBLEM: I have been wanting to downgrade my PSP for a long time so I could run homebrew on it and things like IRShell. I don't really use it to play games, just listen to music and surf the web. I tried downgrading it a few years ago back in the 3.something firmware era. That never worked. Now I want to do it again and I have been reading up about it some. It seems like some of the new cracks involve a pandora battery. This might be a good idea since i need a new battery anyways. So, who is the best homebrewer out there? I have read a little about dark alex back in the day. Is he still on the scene? I would like some detailed directions on how I could accomplish my goal or some helpful links please, this kind of stuff troubles me sometimes.

QUESTION: Is there anyway to upgrade the RAM or anything to make surfing the web faster and able to load bigger web pages. I don't care about breakin the stupid warranty seal.

Thank you for your time and help. I know that this can be tedious.

Very Respectively,
John

OK thanks. I'm going to go look up some now and buy. Is there a guide out there or some instructions you could post for me so I can get a general idea of what to do. Also, on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is this process?

One more thing... do I need to buy a magic memory stick or can I make my own. I found a site that bundles them together.

if you do not mind paying just as easy to buy one, you can always use it later.

eh, it was going to be too much. I made one before I will just do it again. I have 2 memory sticks laying around. So... what CFW would you recommend? Whats the best right now.

Also I just bought the pandora battery. No idea on how long it will take to get here but my guess is it is coming from china so 2 wks.

ok. I will look into that. So about the upgrade part. Is there anyway to boost a PSP's performance by installing aftermarket chips in it much like you would a computer?
