I already have dark alex's custom firmware 5.00 m33-6 installed on my psp and am loving it, however there are some aspects of the official firmware I miss..
i have the tech-know how to be able to follow the instructions and troubleshoot as needed to install such firmware's and such, but not enough to really know whats going on..
now I saw a tutorial on how to dual boot custom firmware 1.5 and 5.0 at the same time, but is there a way to dual boot the custom firmware and official firmware?
There was no custom firmware 1.50. In the beginning, when this all started official firmware 1.00 and 1.50 supported running unsigned code aka homebrew (actually 1.50 only because Sony wanted to be fast after it came public that 1.00 supported unsigned code and rushed 1.50 into the market unfinished). After realizing they left some major security holes wide open the firmware updates nearly came monthly, some even decrypted before they were officially released. Back then there was no custom firmware, only loaders which allowed to emulate a higher version of official firmware and start the backup games from within that emulated firmware. It was the closest possibility of dual booting I know of.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
