I've been getting a lot of conflicting messages about the PSP 3000. I've read that it can't be hacked, then latter I discovered that homebrew could be ran on it. After discovering that I found out by a youtube video that, yes, isos can be ran on a PSP. Now then this is my question; is there any way to successfully hack it so that iso images can be ran on it?

If there is I assume it would involve Pandora, a Magic Stick Pro Duo, custom firmware, and ChickHEN. The only problem is that, while I have found guides for the PSP 1000, and 2000, I can't find any steps for the 3000. Also did that ever resolve that issue of the firmware reverting back for the PSP 3000? My last question is would I be better off in buying a PSP 2000, or is a PSP 3000 the way too go?

One last question: instead of Pandora what about using this? Would this do the same thing?

First if you updated past firmware 5.03 then you need to get a downgrader if you can find one. Once you get that firmware loaded then you can load chickHEN onto your psp (just google it and pick the first result). They have instructions on that site that you googled. ONce you got chickHEN running you can run custom firmware or isos you just cant reset the psps otherwise you have to reload chickHEN. For the photos that you use to load chickHEN it helps to add three .jpg files into the photo folder that you have the other tiff images in.

In other words, it will work, it just requires reinstalling it each and every time? Sounds like a major problem...would the PSP 2000 be a better option, or should I just cut my losses and go with the PSP 3000?

Okay I just have a few more questions I need to ask.

1. What is the difference between a Magic Memory Stick, and a Memory Stick PRO Duo?

2. What is an unbricker? I assumed that is something you made yourself, rather than something you bought from a third party.

3. Which is better? A Pandora battery, a Datel Tool Battery, or a Datel PSP Battery Service Tool where you can turn a standard PSP battery into a service mode (Pandora) battery and vice versa.

4. How do I know which PSP 2000s do I need to avoid (ie. are unhackable)? What will be the tell-tale signs?

5. Is an 8GB Magic Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro Duo too big a size, or should I get one that is only 4GB in size?

Angeteen . great post , you are asking all the questions i want answers too aswell.

A friend of mine is selling his psp3000 for 60 quid and i was pondering buying it until i Also got confused about the availability of hacking it.

So if his current firmware is below 5.03 its worth buying?

Thanks in advance also to anyone who answers angeteen's questions.

There really isn't a problem to me with ChickHEN because if you just leave the PSP on standby then you are good and reinstalling only takes a few seconds after you set the PSP up right.

Magic Stick is a modded mem stick used to hack the psp.

You can buy these off the internet they unbrick your console as far as i know the pandora battery will unbrick most psps.

Pandora Battery would be the best. Datel's batteries dont work with the newer psps.

I dont know about psp 2000s

The memstick size depends on how many games you want on the psp. Isos are around 2Gb a piece.

@Jim

Sounds like a good buy but unless you can find or want to wait for a downgrader for 5.03+.

Here's a good qusestion; what about a 16GB magic stick? Wouldn't that cause problems since some PSPs have problems with reading anything above 8GB? Also, instead of using a magic stick to play backups, what about using a Memory Stick Pro Duo? Would that work just as well since magic sticks are used only for inserting custom firmware?

Finally what about these?

Which would be the best Pandora battery to get?

http://www.pandorabatterybuys.com/ledpabamast11.html (scratch that...Padnorabatterybuys is a scam site, so don't bother with it)

Finally are any of these sites reputable? I apologize in advance for posting so many outside links.

Wow that site you said was fake looked decent even had a security link with it. I try not to buy from other sites besides big ones like amazon. As for size you really dont need a 16Gb because I dont think you need to be carrying around that many psp games anyways unless you can find one for a decent price. I dont use a magic stick to play backups I use a pro and its a 8GB I havent run into any problems with it either.I dont think you need a pandoras battery because all you need to do is run chickHEN which doesn't require one.

I did a little research: you wouldn't believe the number of complaints I've found with it. Pandorasales looks bettter in comparison; I haven't found as many complaints with it, so it may be safe. Anyone care to nay-say me on this? No use in wasting money now.
