I need to update my psp firmware from 5.6 to the latest. Everytime I attempt an update I get this error message "can not load game (DADADADA)". Apparently there is a custom firmware on my psp. I don't care to keep the custom firmware due to the fact that my psp is of the first generation and it won't play newer iso's. With all that said does anyone know how I can fix this to where I can update to the latest firmware?

well, there isn't a 5.6 custom firmware is there. go into system settings and see what your exact custom firmware is.
i would make sure that your battery is charged fully and that the psp is plugged in when you try to update.

You are correct about there not being a 5.6 custom I apologize for the typo. The actual firmware is 3.52. I have tried updating with a full battery and while plugged in. All my readings have suggested that I must first "down grade" to get rid of the custom firmware on order to upgrade to the latest firmware. Without the latest firmware I am unable to play newer games.

upgrade the custom firmware to 3.71 m33-2
then from there update it again to 5.00 m33-6
After that you can update to this new GEN d2 firmware that will play newer games.
I also understand you can play them from 5.00 m33-2 if the game has been patched.

you need to start by looking under system settings, then system information, and tell us exactly what the firmware says. nobody can help you if they do not know what you have. we need all the numbers and letters.

one thing missing from there you have to update to gen-b2 to be able to go to d, what ever you do dont go to gen-c alot of bricking from that version. then you will be able to play all games.

So all I have to do is update version by version (step by step) what you listed until I get to the last one you listed the 1.50, 3.52, right? And then I should have no problems playing new umds? And in order to do that I will have to download those firmware versions onto my pc, transfer them to my psp memory card via USB and then run the upgrades onto my psp from my memory card under the Game/Memory stick selecton on my psp home screen one at a time, right? Also, what's the URL to go from GEN-B to GEN-B2? Thanks for your help by the way.
