how do I access the 5.50 GEN-b menu

I just upgraded from the m33-6 to GEN-a and then GEN-b. Now I can't access the VSH menu when I hit select and can't figure out how to get into the recovery menu when booting.
I've been searching but can't find anything.
Can someone please help?

turn psp off hold power switch up for 7 secs till light goes off, hold right trigger turn on you can turn the XMB menu on under configuration.
