MagicGate - CFW question

I recently bought a PSP 2000 and I am currently using a miscrosd chip with a Stick Duo adaptor, so it is obviously not integrated with MagicGate technology, meaning I can't put CFW on my PSP. However, I was thinking about borrowing my friend's stick in order to apply the CFW to my PSP and then going back to my MicroSD immediately after. Would I be able to load homebrew with those conditions? Or would I still have to be in Service Mode in order to load homebrew, and therefore have to purchase a legit MS Pro Duo?

if your firmware is 5.03 or under then you can hack it without a MagicGate memory card look at this

Actually, I have DDC loaded on a sandisk microsd. It works well.
Use Rain's MMS maker.
