My hacked PSP won't load ISOs

Hello all, I have a hacked PSP that my friend gave me...I'm new to PSPs so I'm not quite sure what's wrong. My firmware version is 5.50 GEN-B Full. When I try to load a .iso or .cso game, it freezes at the "White PSP" screen. 10-15% of the time I can get it to load a game, and it's very frustrating!!! I'm thinking I should reinstall the firmware or even get a different firmware? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Install the d3 update from gen,reformat the memory stick after that restore the factory default
press select to enter the vsh menu and try the sony no umd driver
good luck
if this won`t work try another memstick

I have GEN-B and I want to have GEN-D3, what do I need to do?
