Problems upgrading to 5.50 after fatsmod

I have a PSP 1000 that is currently at 5.00M33 (Not -6)

and herein lies the problem.


I installed the fatsmod to try to fix some lag issues with certain ISO's. THis worked and I am very pleased. But I need to update to 5.50 so I can play some newer ISO's.

All tutorials I have found say you must have 5.00M33-6 to upgrade to 5.50. Well when I downloaded the update from 5.00M33 to 5.00M33-6 it states that I SHOULD NOT install if I have installed fatsmod.

What should I do. i dont think the fatsmod is uninstallable so how can I get from 5.00M33 to 5.50?

ANy help is greatly appreciated.

it is said that if you try a full on install with that you could brick your psp, and it is not recommended unless you have a pandora battery.
