I've been out of the loop for over one year. Will be travelling soon and am trying to figure out the best route to take to install the lates CFW on my PSP-2000. I've been reading and searching, but I'm really confused...
First off, thank you for the extemly prompt and useful reply!
On one of your posts it mentions the check my motherboard since it only works on certain types. What's the best way to do that?
Also, do these CFW support all of the PSPs "native" features such as the PS3 connectivity? I'l like to be able to remotely access my PS3 through WiFi while I'm away from home...
if you are running cfw already there is no need to worry about the motherboard. if it was not the correct motherboard then it would not have the cfw on it. as far as the connectivity, it will link to the ps3, but running cfw will not allow you to connect to PSN. any downloads can be done through the ps3.
Thanks again. I'm not looking to D/L from PSN, just access the PS3 and then my local network through the PS3. It's nice to have access to one's Pics, Vids and MP3s from a distance. Propbably one of the BEST features of the PSP (and PS3 as a media server).
So I've managed to get the remote play to function "locally" (direct to my PS3) but over the 'net it will not work. I need to log onto PSN and when trying (with CFW Gen-D2 loaded) I get a "...need to update software" error.
I done some searching, and it seems older CFW you could trick the PSN/Sony to think your firmware was the latest and get through, that seems to be broken since the latest "gen" CFW.
Is there any hope?
Also, if I load an OFFICIAL FIRM WARE from SONY, can I go back to CFW at any time? I've got a silver PSP-2001 Slim that was "hacked" quite a while ago with a pandora battery.
Or, if the only game I want to play is the new GT for PSP, can I downgrade to an older CFW (I think 5.50) that DOES support remote play and somehow get it to work?
I'll be away for business for 17 days next month and would like to be able to access the PS3 while away to see pics and video of my kids and wife... :(
Perhaps I should bite the bullet and buy the game and make Sony happy... ;)
