The only choice to be really sure is to buy or (in your case maybe better) borrow a Pandora battery (if you know someone who has one) and try it. If it doesn't work, no harm done and you know that your PSP is not modable. If it does work, good, because you need a Pandora anyway to put CFW on it.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Do you have a magic memory stick? You need one in order for it to work, just google, there are some good magic memory stick makers, it's just software. Then take a look on youtube for tutorials on how to downgrade with a pandora battery.

Dangerous. There are black PSP 2ks with a TA088v3 motherboard and if these are bricked you can throw them into the trashcan. They don't support Pandora battery, that means you can't unbrick them.
Originally posted by Gurukai: from what i am told all color (except some blue made late in 2008/9) psp 2001 models are CFW capable. The silver one (daxter bundle) is modable. http://www.edmartechguide.com/2009/03/ho...n-have-cfw.html check that website for further MoBo info.
Actually the information on the blog isn't fully right, there was no 3rd generation, the

was the PSPs who got picked up by Sony for repairs. Sony switched defective motherboards with those so-called 3rd generations.
If it's a Daxter edititon it is definitely modable, those were produced in the 3rd quater of 2007 and were out of produciton when Sony started to add the newer boards.

because, it is silver. i have a madden 08 psp and it is blue but with no pic on the back. i have a silver battery backplate with no pic on it. bought a bundle online, so maybe someone else did the same. but i dont think that version came with a pic on the back like my old star wars one did.
as long as your psp was never sent in to get repaired by sony, then i would call it safe to mod. just like what Eisherz said above

The funny thing is that the TA090v1 motherboard can actually be hacked with a Pandora.

yes, you use Magik memory stick and pandora to downgrade/hack the OFW, take out the magik ms and pandora, put in normal memory stick and battery, then you upgrade to whatever CFW you want. 5.50 gen d3 is what i am running. glad eisherz is here to help, cause i'm kinda noobish, just helping as much as i can from my experience and what i have researched
