Need some ideas as to how to resolve this, so here goes:
I have a TA-082 motherboard that has 2.71 firmware on it that I picked up from someone. The issue is that it does not work on battery power. It works fine from the AC charger and powers on and is working. Once the AC is removed it will just shut off.
I was planning on using the pandora method to upgrade it, however, it will not recognize the battery as a power source. I get:
Charge level - (blank)
Hours left - (blank)
Power Source External
Battery Status - (blank)
I don't need the following solutions:
1- Battery is fully charged and tested on other PSPs
2- Power fuse does not need to be bridged because the board is getting power from AC. (yes, I've done Llamma's fuse repairs many times before)
3- It's not bricked
4- Can not upgrade the firmware because PSP needs to recognize battery in order to proceed with upgrade.
5- Pandora/jigkick battery will not work
6- Battery terminals are making contact because when a battery is inserted, the orange light will activate.
So, I've googled and searched but can't find a fuse diagram anywhere. Llamma's pics only show the USB, Power and Backlight fuses. I figure that there must be a Battery fuse on the motherboard somewhere. Anyone know its location?
While we are at it, does anyone know the UMD fuse location(ta-079)?
i actually had this happen to me once, as a last result i restored the psp to factory settings then connected the usb, and it started working again, you may want to try that wouldnt hurt. i dont know how i did it, but it started when i tried to use a hardmod pandora from a phat psp in a slim.
well,
I gave that a shot and as I suspected it didn't resolve the issue. I am fairly certain that this is a hardware issue. either i have to bridge a fuse or reflow the chip.
My son's PSP has exactly the same problem. He got a new game for Christmas and had not used his PSP in a while. It won't operate off battery and won't upgrade without recognizing a battery. Anyone have a solution? Is there a way to upgrade it without it recognizing a fully charged battery?
