Ok, I've looked all over the internet for my situation but most of the answers don't seem to work.

I traded for a psp off of craigslist with the intention of modding the firmware. When I received the psp it appears as someone else already has accomplished it, but nothing seems to run. If I could have some help it would be much appreciated.

What I know:

1. It's a fat PSP
2. The firmware says it's 13.37 (leet)
3. When I go to load emulators from my game folder, the picture shows up, and when I click on the file it goes to like a computer animated blue gargoyle guy with wings (reminiscent of WOW)
4. The files don't end up loading and return with an error: THE GAME COULD NOT BE STARTED 80002001
5. I can't even locate an mp3 in the music folder, nothing's in there but I've put songs on it.
6. At startup there is a laugh that sounds like ozzy osbourne's laugh and a picture of skulls and crossbones as the background

I can't get anything to run to flash with different firmware so i'm thinking a few things. One of the websites said you need a UMD in the drive and you might be able to work around 80002001 errors. I don't have one and I haven't tried yet. (edit) did not work

I'm also unsure which firmware I'm running too. The text is in a graffiti style font too, i'm guessing part of a theme? I've tried resetting the systems settings but it's still there.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated and of course worth at least +2 internets

This may answer a few questions - google is great!

You need to have 5.00m33-6 or 5.50genD2 firmware.

I suggest the best way to start is http://pspslimhacks.com/easy-chickhen-cu...ithout-pandora/

Update to 5.03 Official firware (inc in the guige). use the guide (this has the chickhen for slim, google and get chickhen for phat instead then everything is very simple)

already tried xflash from that exact thread and when I put on xflash, there is no icon at all for the program, plus when i go to launch it it turns gray (as if an error) and no text shows up but it looks like it should.

Also i cannot get chicken to run either.

i would think this would attribute to ofw but my autoupdater is disabled so maybe i need to just use pandora, can you just start from scratch with pandora?

Go to Recovery Menue by keeping the right shoulder button pressed while booting up and disable all plugins.
If that still doesn't work I would use the recovery feature to get back to 1.50 again and totally remod it.
And if that doesn't help, I would use a pandora battery.
Somebody seems to have messed with the flash big time.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

take the battery out put it back in hold right shoulder button and keep pressing it and turn pc on, you will not get to recovery mode from sleep mode, hence take battery out to make sure your not in sleep mode.

Do this:
Turn on PSP > Settings > System Settings > System Information
what does 'System Software' say on the right?
Fully charge up your battery, and go back to PSP > Settings > System Settings > Battery Information.
when fully charged, and WiFi switch off, how much power does it have?
Turn off PSP
Remove battery cover
What are the first 4 characters of the serial #?
Lastly, turn over the PSP & look at the long serial #. What are the first 6 characters? (mine is AB0069)

with this info, we can figure out if your system has been modded, what FW it might have had, and what you can do.

it says the system software is version 13.37 (obviously spoofed)

currently charging the battery, it's taking awhile (i'll repost when complete)...wifi off which btw I don't have a network browser either on this thing

psp-1001
sn:FU0524818

also, I just bought God of war and it wants me to update to 3.80, should I try this or could this have consequences? another thing, I installed chickhen and i can see the files on my psp through my pc, but when i check it on the psp, it has a chickhen folder but says there are 0 images

edit- so i went ahead and tried to update it to 3.80 but it said "The update cannot be started. The data is corrupted."

1) Chickhen ONLY works on 5.03 firmware
2) You will have to pandora, get a pandora battery and MMS - this will override everything
