Hey all. I just followed the front sticky and upgraded from 3.40 OE to 3.52M33. I'm still getting the 80020148 error. I just downloaded these new games. I double checked to make sure my advanced configurations were disabled (the 3 that you usually do) and my NO-UMD is disabled. I figured I had to look after I upgraded. Point is, the games are in the iso folder and it still doesn't work. Do I further upgrade and if so, can I get a link? I tried to follow a 4.01 upgrade link but that didn't have what I needed. Instructions. Please help.

Upgrade to 5.00m33-6 (find hellcats recovery flasher)
Then either get patched roms or you can upgrade to 5.50genD3 (newest games still need patching even on this firmware)

I realize I probably have to upgrade again but I'm not sure where to go. I found this site through a yahoo search. Any place that is reliable or possibly another thread on these forums?

I successfully installed the new firmware, 5.00 M33-6. It has altered the opening interface to reflect a newer version. System setting says that is the system software as of now. I cannot play my new games. My old are running just fine. The error is 80020148. It is a 2010 game. Should i delete and reinstall the new game? Do I need an even newer version of firmware. I was unable to find 6.00.
Get 5.50 GEN-D3, that's the latest custom firmware. From 5.00 M33 you can directly update to 5.50 GEN-D3, a good download source is http://www.psp-hacks.com .

I'm downloading the 5.50 gen now. I'll let you know if it works. Is it alright to delete the m33 creator and updater and hellcat flash recovery that on my memory stick?It's starting to eat up a lot of space.
Yes you can delete but, keep Hellcats on your PC as you can go back to 5.00m33 with this.
The newer games
1) Some are patched for all firmware - these will play on 5.00m33 & 5.50gen
2) Some are just decrypted for 5.50genD3
3) Some games cannot be decrypted.
There is no great advantage to going to 5.50gen, you loose some memory card speed (5.00m33 has an option in the recovery menu to speed up memory card) some PS1 games will not play and some homebrew will not work. It was a great idea to include on the fly patching, unfortunately this only worked for a very short time before Sony overcame this, so even with 5.50gen the new games still have to be decrypted to play - all games that play on 5.50genD3 can play on 5.00m33-6 with patching.
Just make sure you get the patched for all firmware - or google how to patch your own.

did you change your umdiso mode to the m33 driver?

At this point, I've upgraded to gend3 and I redownloaded the games. The others were bad. They both play great now and I have even started to play playstation games on the psp as well. I found someone who gives you the eboot.pbp file right off the bat. Thanks for your help guys. This helped a lot.
