First, let me thank you for reading and (hopefully) advising. I also want to assure you that I have spent some serious time on these forums and others, read the stickies and FAQS, but am still struggling with some things.
My Situation:
I have an old fat black PSP that I thought I was very clever several years ago to downgrade to firmware 1.50 so I could play SNES games on it. Now I hear that I can dump my PSP games and play them on a custom firmware, in addition to SNES games and other homebrew.
The problem is that many threads are written from the perspective of people who already have a custom firmware, and I REALLY don't want to take chances and ruin my PSP.
My Questions:
1. What is the newest/best/most reliable CFW that I should update to? (one of Dark Alex's? Gen 5.00 d2?)
2. Do I need to update to a less advanced CFW and then progress to the newest one? (i.e. 1.50->2.6->3.71->5.00?)
3. Could someone point me in the direction of a thorough guide to do this?
I really appreciate any help you all can give. I really do.
You have many options, the best method I recommend is you update to OFW 5.03, then you can use 5.03 tiff exploit to activate chickHEN, and then run Hellcats Recovery Flasher 1.6 to install 5.00 Dark Alex Custom Firmware. And then upgrade to 5.50 GEN D-2. Or you can make your battery a pandora battery and a magic memory stick.
Sorry for the double post, but I just read that even though I have a fat PSP, I need to have a hackable motherboard. Is there a way to determine this without cracking it open?
if you can get your hands on a JigKick battery & make a MMS, yes you'll have a Pandora. Never a bad thing to have one of those around.
i'm kinda stuck myself. I posted a thread w/pics of my battery, hoping if someone would tell me (if it could be) converted to a JigKick. No responses so far :(
i learned a lot from the site below, and they go into technical stuff that might be helpful. maybe too much info LOL
