10 dollar heat gun at Harbor Freight...

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I went to Harbor Freight tools today and they had heat guns on sale for 10 dollars. These were the 2 setting adjustable high/low guns that run over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit on the high setting. This is a great deal since I just paid 35 dollars for one at Home Depot a few weeks back. I'm not sure if they're on sale everywhere but they typically offer the same prices in different stores. I would call and your local store in case you're interested.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

That is a pretty good deal and certainly helps keep the costs of repairs down. Personally I got mine from walmart in the paint section for $20 (wagner 1000)

Your just asking for trouble takeing a heat gun to any circuit board you will warp it if your just lucky more than likely burn the traces right off.

Speaking of warping, what's wrong with a circuit board warping as long as it does what it's supposed to do which is hold everything and connect everything into place? The X-Clamp fix works in that very same way, warping the circuit board so the cold solder joints connect beneath the GPU and CPU. As far as burning the traces right off, I'm sure they would if you held a heat gun in one spot long enough to create a fire...which I would hope most people attempting this would actually read about how to perform properly before attempting. Of course, the advocates of reflowing will advise against this...but the thing is, not EVERY broken 360 needs a reflow and vice versa with a heatgun. There's quite few ways to skin a horse.
