K gang both my 360s have xclamp fixes and im really needing a reflow. I need to overheat these to see if i can atleast get gpu set better but neither one will heat up. They both go from either 1 light then 2 or 2 then 3 rings but fan starts then speeds up then 5 seconds and shuts off. heat sinks arent hot etc. is this more of a temp sensor prob? any tut specific to this or any suggestions would be appreciated

Sounds like your heatsinks might not be sitting correctly. I would suggest tightening/loosening the screws.

unhook your fan and overheat them, after they overheat leave it on for about two min, then tighten heatsinks let it cool down for about 10 or 15 min and test with the fan hooked up.

overheating the system is not a reflow because it doesnt get up to the 400 degrees or so necessary to melt the solder. It may cause the solder to expand thus making contact but the solder is still broken and the RRoD will come back eventually (and harder to fix because it's been broken and oxidation has been allowed to build up). Also yes, as someone mentioned the reason it 2 rings immediately is because the heatsink is not properly installed.

well when i originally did the fix both worked but still eventually had the overheating. Usually I could just unhook fans and overheat but it doesnt stay 1 ring long enough before fans kick off and then straight to 2 overheat and shuts down. Ive adjusted heat sinks once already and nothing. Guess Ill just keep adjusting til i hit my 360s secret spot
