20gb hdd only showing up as 9.7gb

Okay, hear me out, I know at first it sounds stupid. I've had my 20gb since i bought my 360 (06/07). But when I was trying to download cod 4 on to my hdd it says it need 6.7gb free space. I deleted everything from the hdd (except for 3gb game saves, and a few mb profiles). It still only says there is 6.7gb free space(not enough to load cod 4). When i select the hdd properties, it says the capacity is 13.9gb, yet I can only use 9.7gb... I've lost 4.2gb. There's a corrupt game save (only 50kb), I'm thinking that the whole hdd has been affected. Clearing the cache doesn't work either

Has anybody got soloutions, I really do not want to have to format the entire drive and lose my profiles.

Okay I solved it, I found another corrupt game save, it was only 67kb but when i deleted it the hdd gained 4gb of space. I'll probably end up doing that 120gb hdd upgrade, when I have enough time.
