Basically it's a custom built and formatted hardrive that runs at 7200 RPM instead of the standard 5400 RPM. The maker claims that it loads everything about 20% faster, but acts just like a normal 360 drive and works on LIVE with full functionality.

I saw them for sale at $110 each, and I'm wondering if this is worth a purchase.

Thoughts?

Wabasshman,

I'm willing to building a HDD for myself, since an "original" one costs around U$200 here in Argentina, and it will be way cheaper if I buy a HDD and build it myself, in order to replace my actual 20GB that came with the console.

A link to a good tutorial with the programs will be really welcome, since I can't fine a trustworthy one through google.

Even though you need to be careful, sometimes they use old programs, that allow way less storage in your device. I have one of 120Gb that I need to fix for 40Gb, since they probably used the HDDHakr tool that needs manual allocation of the free sectors, or something like that. That is why I'm looking for a good tutorial on how to set a HDD to fix this issue, and probably upgrade to a 250Gb.

that last post really made no sense as you write a stock MS hard drive image to non-MS hard drive to get it to be recognized. like with my custom 250, it was a 250 western digital to begin with. i wrote the 250gig MS hitachi FW to it, and it showed up as 250. formatted with the 360 and it was the 228 gigs free as it should be. same way if you went and bought a stand-a-lone 250 at walmart. same thing happens when making custom 120s or 60 gig HDs.
