OK i got the rrod on my x box 360 and so i got another 1 and the DVD drive messed up they r both Hitachi DVD drives couldn't i take the 1st ones DVD drive and put in the 2nd 1
and it will work

nope each xbox has a key inside the DVD drive married to the motherboard.
yes you could just switch but you wouldn't play any games.
you would have to get the key from the other drive first. Google flashing or search this forum and if they are identical drives swap pcbs

identical as in same model(which u say u have) and same firmware(dunno if its same firmware)

Every console must have matching keys. Those keys are on the the console motherboard and the DVD drive's PCB board.

So what you need to do is, take the DVD drives apart. Put the PCB board from drive #2 into drive #1, then put #1's drive into console #2. This way the console still has matching keys.

In other words, the finished box needs to be:
Box #2's console
Box #1's DVD drive
Box #2's DVD PCB board.
