My 360 is currently freezing up intermittently after about 5-20 mins of gameplay, I fixed the RROD on this particular console about a year ago and had no RROD's since.
Also in game sometimes just before the freeze menu's dont appear properly as in the writing of save games and options etc just arent there or say for instance furniture in game just isnt there.
Me thinks its the DVD drive dieing but I wanted a second opinion before I run off and buy a replacement.
considering you fixed the rrod with xclamp fix, a professional reflow may be a good investment and would almost guaranteed work. freezing can be overheating too (even with no 2 rrod) so i would also do a fan mod (connecting them to 7,9,12 volt sources on the board making them run faster)
Yeh mine did the same, fixed RROD about a year ago, then started freezing again about a month ago, then bam RROD again, tried the heatgun fix, worked a treat, dont forget to use new thermal paste on the chips either!!

This was happening to one of mine. I just replaced the fan with a legacy and she running fine since. I always install my games now seeing as it's the older model and has a shitachi drive. I only kick the fan up to 12v when I am installing a game to the HDD. It's too loud to have on during gameplay.
If you play a game off the hard drive, and it freezes... then it simply wouldn't make much sense for it to be a DVD drive problem in my opinion. What other people are saying about the RROD coming is most likely true, I went through the same thing. =/
oddly enough mine would play 2D games like castlevania without freezing at all, up until it froze and eventually red ringed on a 3D one.
