I'm just gonna say that if Microsoft put an internal blu ray player in the 360 there would be no more Playstation. How many of you own both and have maybe 3 games for it? I've had my PS3 three years and own one game, Little Big Planet. I have twenty or more 360 games. If Microsoft grew some balls and took the risk they would get rid of the Playstation and eventually the Wii as well, even though it's practically gone now.
Sorry for the little rant and I'm sure it will never happen but I wish it would...

There are plenty of good exclusives for the PS3. I agree, though, that the next Microsoft console should use blu-ray. One of the limitations that developers have on the 360 is disc space. This sometimes makes them scale down games so that they would be equal on PS3/360 content wise.

That's a good point as well Darkness. And yes there are good exclusives, such as Metal Gear, Resistance (even though I didn't get in to it as much), Heavnly Sword was an amazing title as well and God of War of course and a hand full of others.
I also just saw a news article on the home page that shows a short clip of Microsoft making fun of Apple because their laptops don't support blu ray. If Microsoft is gonna support blu ray they might as well allow gamers to have it too.

my car needs a drivers seat toilet so i never have to stop at a rest area ever again.......
in other news it was revealed that most ps3 games do not use more space than most 360 games...thus revealing that blu-ray has no advantage other than shiny movies.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.231419-Sonys-Failure-to-properly-use-BluRay-for-gaming
Quote: One of the main sellingpoints for Sony and the BluRay Drive that comes with it is the alleged fact that todays modern games require larger and larger ammounts of data, data that supposedly cannot longer fit on a Dual-Layered DVD disc.
If you've missed - a Dual-Layered DVD disc can fit around 9 GB of data while a BluRay disc can fit 25GB on Single Layer and twice the size on Dual-Layered BluRay disc.
While this; in theory certainly gives the PlayStation 3 the advantage of being able to put massive ammounts of data exceeding that of the PC and Xbox360 the truth is that Sonys games rarely exceed the size of a Double-Sided DVD nullifying that advantage and main selling point from Sony.
As we all know the Playstaion 3 was recently cracked and serveral pirated copys of PS3 games have been spread around on the Internet. While I have no personal interest in downloading these, my main interest is the data SIZE of these disc-images. And as it turns out - most PS3 games are well under the size of a BluRay disc, and in most cases; under the size of a DL DVD disc.. Now in defense the PS3 has a lot of multi-platform games and the size of these games are naturally going to be the same on the Xbox 360. Games such as Grand Theft Auto IV, Bad Company 2, etc. But come on? How hard is it for them to fill the damned disc with extra content exclusive to the PlayStation 3? In all multiplaform games the size of the data has been identical to the Xbox360/PC version. Sonys alleged advantage over all the other consoles becomes rather pointless if the multi-platform games on it differ in no way, shape or form from the other conoles.
Now how about console exclusives you might say? Well, here is a small list of the current pirated ISOs I found online
Little Big Planet - 7.65 GB
Demons Souls - 5.57 GB
GT5 Prologue - 5.89 GB
Haze - 7.33 GB
Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty - 3.22 GB
Ridge Racer 7 - 4.7 GB
Infamous - 6.53 GB
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - 3.46 GB
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - 5.13 GB
KillZone 2 - 12.03 GB
MotorStorm - 12.99 GB
Valkyria Chronicles - 12.08 GB
Now given these numbers - remember there are a few couple of exceptions, being God of War III and Uncharted being just about the only games taking up a massive 40GB of data on the disc.
What really suprises me here is just how many sinners are among the list. Games like KillZone 2 barely slip away from the Dual-Layered DVD and notorious PS3 games such as Ridge Racer 7 and Haze would easily fit on to the old format of discs.
I keep asking myself why the developers really haven't been using the full space. Given that demanding the 50GB of data space to be fileld might be a tad unrealistic - asking the discs to contain documentries, extra content is really not asking for much.
Why do you think developers at SONY do not use the BluRay to its full extend for the majority of the time? Does it bother you that the sales pitch the BluRay offers is virtually bogus?
Do you think games will be larger in data size in the future giving the PS3 the aleged advantage for real?

No they don't.
Sorry, let me correct myself:
Sony owns the logo, but, like CD and SACD, it was developed with Philips.
Contributing to the development of the format were/are Matsushita, Pioneer, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp and Samsung.
The current Board of Directors is comprised of:
Apple
Dell
HP
Hitachi
LG
Mitsubishi Electric
Panasonic
Pioneer
Philips
Samsung
Sharp
Sony
Sun Microsystems
TDK
Thomson
Twentieth Century Fox
Walt Disney
Warner Bros.
Sony does not "own" Blu-ray.

http://conversation.which.co.uk/technology/many-blu-rays-no-better-than-upscaled-dvds/
Quote: Many Blu-rays no better than DVDs-
Is high-definition all it?s cracked up to be? Not on many Blu-ray movies as it turns out. Despite the routine claims that Blu-ray delivers ?the maximum HD experience? some barely look better than their DVD counterparts.
Blu-ray is the gold standard of high-definition home viewing. Better resolution means more pixels, more detail, better colour and more natural pictures than anything broadcast in HD.
And it?s certainly streets ahead of poor old standard definition DVD. Right? Well as it turns out, rather than replying with a resounding ?yes?, it?s more of a ?well yes, hmm maybe, err not really? depending on which Blu-ray movie you happen to buy.
Blu-ray test gives mixed results
In a recent Which? investigation, we uncovered a real gulf between the best and the worst. It should make everyone think twice about shelling out.
Don?t get me wrong. Blu-ray can look fantastic. New movies produced since the format launched in 2006 are optimized for HD and transfer brilliantly to Blu-ray. And there?s plenty of older movies worth the cover price too.
Zulu, Wizard of Oz and From Russia with Love are classic movies that span the decades, but still manage to look like they could have been filmed yesterday (though the 60s fashion sensibilities in Bond could give it away).
Yet, if you?re a movie fan like me and feel the urge to ?upgrade? some of the classics from your collection, you?ll be in for a shock. There are some real stinkers that put the format to shame. Ghostbusters, Die Hard and The Graduate are shocking examples of Blu-rays that offer little more than the DVD versions ? other than over-saturated colour and an inflated cover price.
How can we pick out the good ones?
Andrew Vandervell has already bemoaned the lack of HD broadcast content for those without the deep pockets for Sky+HD, so I?m aware that this isn?t what HD TV owners want to hear. But don?t despair. When they get it right, the studios do deliver. Zulu really does look like a different film on Blu-ray ? the colour and detail is simply magnificent.
But how can you pick out a gem from the duds? Unfortunately, you can?t tell from the packaging. Most discs are routinely labeled ?full-HD quality?, and there are no industry plans for any ?mastered from the original source? logos on the horizon.
So what?s your experience of Blu-rays? Do you have any in your collection that look no better than DVDs, or do you have a bunch that live up to the high-definition hype?

It's not so much the games I'm worried about. I don't care if the games are on blu-ray or on dvds. I want the internal blu-ray player so I don't have to spend more money to buy a PS3 or a separate blu-ray player.I want to be able to use the 360 for everything, from video games to movies to music to downloadable everything. I don't care much for the Playstation anymore even though it was one of my favorite consoles (PS1 and PS2) and I think if Microsoft wants to take a stab at Sony that this would be the best way.
When consumers walk into a store and see that blu-ray is going to eventually replace dvds or that blu-rays are the new format they will want to buy it. There are a select few that think blu-ray is not needed yet they are still selling strong and becoming more and more available.
When people look at buying a console it basically comes down to this: Blu-ray player or no blu-ray player. Not which has the better games and blah blah blah. The PS3 would be dead right now if the 360 had blu-ray. I'm no fan boy of Microsoft, there's a lot of things I hate about them but if they wanted to take out the biggest competitor they have they could have easily done it already.

not gonna happen for 2 reasons.
1. its far too late in the gaame to add something like that now.
2. bluray isnt the ultimate and wont be around forever, something new and better will come sometime
