So I just bought a 360 from a guy off craigslist for 80 bucks. Came with two 20gb HDDs a wireless controller, power and cables. He told me it wouldn't read games and I figured, being pretty knowledgeable about these things, that I could fix it.

I get it home test it out and it just says play dvd, blah, blah, blah. So I open up jungleflasher and check it out and it says that the firmware is stock (btw it is a Hitachi v79), so I flash it to Lt+ and try it again. Same thing, says it will only play dvds.

Next I trid cleaning the lens to see if that was the problem and it's a no go. Put a DVD in there and it works. Now I know that must mean there is a firmware issue but like I said I already flashed it to LT+.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Oh I forgot to mention that the manufacturer date is August 2007 for both the console and the dvd drive, so I'm thinking that ther go together but could be wrong. Also it is HDMI.

most likely has the wrong key on it, unless you can get the correct drive for it you may be out of luck, you can check the pot settings on the laser and make sure they are right, but i'm afraid you have an 80 dollar dvd player.

Ok so I'll just google how to do the pot and see if there is another way to get the key. Do you happen to know another way to get the key?

Ok well I'll have to get a multimeter tomorrow or find one to borrow and try the pot settings tomorrow. I guess I'm pretty much fucked on it. Hopefully I can get it fixed lol

Just wondering... SO I dumped the fw from the drive and got the key. Does that mean that it's the right key or not? It could be any key right? And when I look on jungleflasher to see if the key is verified it's not. I'm assuming that means I'm f'ed.

It sounds like the wrong drive is in there but you can always try flashing another drive with with the info to make sure. I would try with another drive, on occasions I've had bad lasers with the same symptoms.

**you can always contact the seller to ask if he has the original drive....key..etc** Hope it works out.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Ok so I got in touch with the guy who sold me the xbox finally and he said that it is the original drive. So does that mean the laser is bad? Also if I need to spoof another drive I have a couple spare to use, only thing is I'm having troubles with jungleflasher all of a sudden.

Check out Jungleflasher problems in the forum.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Well like I said I got a hold of the guy who sold it to me and he said it was the original drive. Could that mean it was just the laser? I'm gonna try and put a different drive in it. I've been looking at how to do it but I'm having some trouble in the newest version of jungleflasher. I'll see if I can put it on another computer and get it working. (The drive and console dates match down to the year and month, seems like thats a bit of a coincidence and should be the original drive)

Also does anyone know how to swap the drive keys using the newest jungleflasher? I could only find it for older verison.
