360 won't connect to laptop wirelessly?

First my X box 360 is hooked up directly to my router.


I just got another laptop and for some reason my 360 won't connect to my laptop unless my laptop is connected to the router as well. I didn't have this problem at all with my other laptop. What could be causing the issue?

Things I've done.

Open 20 different ports that were suggested by Microsoft

Deleting DRM files, updating the DRM files, restoring the router to factory condition.

Messing around with the UPnP, Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, enabled sharing with my 360 to Windows Media Library.

I cut ALL firewalls off in Windows and I have no antivirus software installed. I actually spent 6 hours yesterday trying to figure the problem out (I hate not being able to solve a problem) so if anyone knows what the hell is wrong let me know. This is driving me nuts.

Well I found the problem to be my Realtek RTL8192E wireless card. Now I guess there is nothing else to do but contact Realtek to see if there is a solution since the drivers are already UTD, if not just put it on Craig. I'm pissed I just bought this laptop yesterday. grrrr.

Are you wanting to stream files from laptop to 360?

Don't want to hijack your thread sonyab523 but have a question along those lines. My console is flagged to be banned so I obviously don't want to connect to live but can I stream from my laptop to my 360 without connecting to live.

I haven't tried to do that without being connected to x box live but I'm sure you should be able to.

When I start my 360 and go to video library TVersity is there. But when I go to look on my laptop the device it senses is a Web Browser. But again if I use another computer or the usb wireless adapter for this laptop TVersity picks it up as a X box 360. So again that's telling me the wireless card for some reason does not want to detect the 360 correctly.

@BIFF0, Yes you can, You need to make sure your router doesnt have the DSL line plugged in so there is no outside line and would become strictly LAN.

Then you can stream to your hearts content.

Well the wireless chip finally decided to be nice and work out of the blue. Still don't know what caused the issue but hopefully it stays fixed.
