okay, so one of my 360's was recently banned (ix 1.4 ben q). im curious as to how one would update to non patched xtreme firmware. do you just follow jungleflasher's guide for ben q's but replace ixtreme 1.6 with xtreme?

I believe so. I've only used iXtreme firmwares though. If you want to be able to boot any disc (patched, modded, correctly stealthed, etc) just upgrade to iXtreme 1.51 or 1.61, they boot everything.

thanks eebeejay, but i don't want to have to deal with future "wave" discs. wave 4 already has me scrambling to update my other 360's.

1.51 and 1.61 boot everything. Including every wave there ever has been or ever will be.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

Umm no they dont..

HITACHI 1.51 Will but it has been confirmed that 1.51 for all other drives will need to be updated for wave 4.

As for 1.61, it will play all CURRENT waves just fine as is but for future (just as the case was for 1.60) we'd have to use one shot boot mode with activate.iso.

If you'd rather avoid the hassle, especially considering its a banned box, update your Benq to 1.41-non stealth which will play all future waves without modification.

edit-forgot to mention that the process for updating is the same via jungle-flasher
